Lustful Love of Ones

I know this picture is really old, but I noticed it had Advanced Critique turned on and thought I might as well comment, just in case you ever thought up redoing it, or something. Dunno.

Anyways! The idea behind the picture is solid, I suppose, but there are a few major mistakes that keep it from being really striking. First off, the extreme-closeup, while appropriate in this kind of situation, makes the picture feel squashed. I would personally scoot the camera back a bit, and spread the two characters apart. That way their faces can be properly extended. (Poor Kairi, she has no nose!)

Which brings me to my next point... anatomy. It's not really something that can be taught, but I'd recommend looking at reference. You know, find a picture of a girl facing left at a forty-five degree angle, or the like. You'd be surprised how much it helps.Kairi's cleavage especially offends my sense of aesthetic, with it's cartoonish unrealism. NOBODY who's naked has that kind of push-up.

And, of course, the background is really plain. For the kind of intense emotion you're trying to convey, I'd probably try a dark color, like Navy Blue. The white is flat and draws away from the impact. Just makes sure that the foreground still has enough contrast to draw the eye!

Well, that's my two cents' worth. I don't know how helpful it will be, especially seeing as how you've improved quite a bit in the months since posting this, particularly on anatomy.
